SIPTU absorbs the cost of any SIPTU College course for SIPTU members.
There are fees for Trade Union Studies – from January 2021 fees were due to increase to €300 for each 10-credit module and €150 for each 5-credit module except Return-to-Learn for which there is no fee. In acknowledgement of the hardship Covid has caused for workers and their unions, these increases will not apply in January and the old rates of €200/€100 will apply instead.
Most unions have a scholarship or education fund which will make a contribution towards the fees. In the case of SIPTU your application for the course is also your application for funding and if your Sector Organiser sanctions the application, then your fees should be secured. There are no other costs for participants on this course. All course materials are supplied and SIPTU College pays the fees incurred for certification at the National College of Ireland.
