Union Activist Training

Introductory – SIPTU College now offers one-day introductory sessions for newly elected representatives or for activists in newly organised employments. These can be held at short notice in any part of the country and are ideally suited to small groups. Activists who attend can expect to learn about SIPTU’s structure and history and to understand the three main functions of a union activist: to organise workers in their union; to negotiate on their behalf and to represent individuals on grievance and disciplinary issues.

If you are a newly elected workplace representative or your workplace is recently organised, contact your SIPTU Organiser and ask them to arrange an Introductory Day for your area.

Our Basic Activist training helps you as a workplace representative to fulfil the various roles associated with being a representative/shop steward. This course also provides an introduction to all our Advanced courses.
